My name is George my son Michael 6 years ago got a cancerous brain tumor and i just wanted to let people know of the symptons he got prior of being dignose so late so other parents dont have to go thru what me and my wife & Especially my son went thru.
6 year ago at the age of 10 yrs old my son started felling sick by TWITCHING and VOMITING we took him to the Doctors
so the doctor check him out and couldnt find anything wrong , so he started asking us question about our son schooling so we told him he was a straight "A" student and played baseball
the doctors dignose was that my wife was STRESSING him out because of his good grades saying it was all my son, about 4-6 months later we taking him back again for VOMITING but this time he lost about 5 lbs this time the Dr dignose was that he needs to see a SHRINK. Now at this time were thinking it my be our son acting like this really didnt now what to think.
Now 3 more months go by still VOMITING having some slight HEADACHES and lost 10 more Lbs so we take him back to the doctors and demand that Dr take blood and the Dr refused at first so my wife told him if he dont when my wife goes back to work she will order a blood test herself because she works for a Dr also so he finally did blood work, a week later we got a call from his primary Dr saying he has MONO and he need to see a GI specialist.
Our first visit to the GI Dr at LOMA LINDA HOSPITAL CA was a consultation we were told he was going to get scoped in 2 week to take out any bacteria in his stomach,so they did and we thought everything was going to be okay. about three week later on a Saturday we went to the zoo and it slightly rained that day as we were walking my son slipped and fell we just thought he slipped because the ground wa still wet from the rain earlyer that day we also called the primary Dr and his word to us was my son was not under his care at this time that we need to call the Gi Dr so we did we were to take him that comming Monday once there the Gi Dr takes a flashlight and shines it in his eyes within minutes he tell us to go to the ER at lomalinda hospital he was going to schedule a cat scan and Mri, well the found a mass about 4.3 cm x 4.0 cm wraped around my sons brain stem this was the first day of our new life. Thank God For This GI Dr if we would of counted on our primary Dr my son would of die due to the pressure in his head with out the surgery my son had about 1 month to live.
Now it surgery* my son had two surgery his first was on my Wedding Anniversary and his second a week later on his birthday and the took all of the tumor out without disturbing the brain stem , he had 30 radiation treatments and one year of Chemo treatment 6 month of theraphy and now BLIND.
and me and my wife broke almost losing everything we have my son out paitence visits and six different medications needed cost us about 6-7 hundred dollar a month to keep our son alive and there is know help for families making 60,000 per year ,so it was pay the bills or get treatment for our son.
Now our son is 16 years old still BLIND but doing great belongs to a group called CANDLE LIGHTERS and hopefully live a decient life and still a "A" student being home schooled.now not trusting any Dr with our kids
The only reason I haven'nt mention the Dr name or our last name is because were are in a law suit still and hopefully we will win we dont want any money for us we just dont want him to touch anymore children (so please pray for use to win this battle ) if we are awarded any monies most of it will be DONATED
